In this course, students will learn how management principles are applied in theory and practice considering the mega shifts in the industry. The goal is to gain broad knowledge on how to make informed business decisions, and build fundamental skills to think critically. The lectures and discussions were structured to give aspiring managers the agile mindset and wide-ranging perspective to thrive and deep dive later on to specialized business courses. 

This Business communication subject aims to acquire knowledge, skills, and practical techniques for effective communication in a multicultural business environment. The focus is on skills for dealing with conflicts, intercultural communication and business correspondence.

On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:

  • Apply effectively new knowledge for communication in a business environment
  • Lead discussions and solve problems in a working environment
  • Use their writing, verbal and nonverbal communication skills in a business environment
  • Listen and deliver effective working messages and business presentations

A student-centred approach will be used to present the basic concepts and principles of business communication through interactive lectures, demonstrations and class discussions. Reflective practice will be used to explain and elaborate specific problem areas. Students will also be expected to engage in self-directed learning.

The subject introduces students to the fundamental theories of microeconomics and macroeconomics. Some of the key topics include: demand and supply, consumer choice, costs of production, market structures, unemployment, in]lation, business cycle, economic policies, etc. The aim of the subject is to enable students to develop sound analytical skills necessary for understanding and providing solutions to various problems in the ]ield of economics and business.
