This module introduces key theories of Strategic Management, focusing on strategy design and development, crafting strategic options, addressing competitive challenges in the global market environment and implementing strategy and change. The module illustrates and examines these theories through the analysis of strategies employed by companies in the hospitality, tourism, leisure, and events industries. Special attention is given to exploring the various aspects of strategy formulation/analysis and implementation issues. Moreover, the module aims to familiarise students with the theory and practice of strategic management in business organisations. Specifically, it aims to foster a critical understanding of strategic management paradigms and analysis techniques, as well as promoting insight and originality in approaching strategic analysis and implementation.
