This module introduces key theories of Strategic Management, focusing on strategy design and development, crafting strategic options, addressing competitive challenges in the global market environment and implementing strategy and change. The module illustrates and examines these theories through the analysis of strategies employed by companies in the hospitality, tourism, leisure, and events industries. Special attention is given to exploring the various aspects of strategy formulation/analysis and implementation issues. Moreover, the module aims to familiarise students with the theory and practice of strategic management in business organisations. Specifically, it aims to foster a critical understanding of strategic management paradigms and analysis techniques, as well as promoting insight and originality in approaching strategic analysis and implementation.

The IAB module is designed to facilitate fostering intercultural awareness and sensitivity to cultural diversity in business and education environments. The course aims to enable students to recognise and address various dimensions of culture-bound differences when working with people from different cultural backgrounds.
Upon completion of the module students should be able to:
•        Evaluate and articulate the contribution of intercultural learning in business and other related areas of their studies
•     Analyse and reflect on how cultures differ; identify cultural values, styles of communication and sociocultural behaviour inherent to the target cultures that could clash with their own culture.
•        Apply theoretical approaches to analyse national cultural differences in given work-related scenarios
•        Evaluate and analyse culture-bound differences on specific issues such as power distance, time orientation, management of uncertainty, gender, individuality, attitudes to conflict, etc.

·        Critically analyse and reflect on business and personal issues from a perspective other than their own cultural background to operate effectively in culturally diverse settings.

A student-centred approach and independent study will be used to investigate and understand the basic concepts of culture and cultural differences in intercultural communication and international business. Interactive lectures, online tools and demonstrations, real-life case-based discussions, questionnaires and reflective practice will be used to explain and elaborate on specific problem areas.
